FEO conducts training to upskill staff

The Fijian Elections Office (FEO) conducted a 2-day training on Electronic Voter Registration.

Whilst officiating at the opening of the training, the FEO’s Director Corporate Services Mr. Sanjeshwar Ram emphasized the importance of obtaining and disseminating accurate information to members of the public.

“Good customer service is crucial in our line of work and it’s important that you give the right information to members of the public who seek our assistance. The same goes when you are obtaining information from the public,” said Mr. Ram

He added that given the important role the Voter Services Centres (VSCs) play, it was vital that the staff know and understand the services offered at the various VSCs.

“The main services provided at the VSCs are conducting new registration for eligible voters, updating or correcting details of existing voters and replacing lost voter cards. So, when a voter wishes to have his or her voter card replaced, have their personal information changed or even have a new card done, it is important that you get the right information and enter it accordingly.”

“I therefore urge you all, as the face of the FEO in our field offices, to be thorough and cautious at all times and not leave any room for mistakes. At the end of this training, you’re better equipped and gained the knowledge in providing voter services at the VSC in Suva,” said Mr. Ram.

The 2-day training which was attended by 8 participants, ensured that staff are refreshed with current procedures and at the same time are upskilled with new ones. The training included modules on Customer Etiquette and Handling Customer Complaints for new voter registration staff.

The training ends on Friday 1 September, 2023.
