In celebrating Diwali this year, the Acting Supervisor of Elections [“ASoE”] Ana Mataiciwa has reminded staff of the Fijian Elections Office [“FEO”] to also celebrate the spirit of teamwork, integrity and unity.
“We all know that here at the FEO, we face unique challenges in ensuring that the integrity of the electoral process is upheld and maintained. It is not an easy task nor is it a walk in the park as it requires dedication, diligence, and unwavering commitment. As we celebrate Diwali – the festival of lights, let us also celebrate the spirit of teamwork, integrity and unity that defines the FEO family,” said Ms. Mataiciwa.
The ASoE urged the staff to take the opportunity to strengthen their resolve to maintain the highest standards in their work, uphold transparency, and deliver their best to ensure that the trust and confidence of the Fijian people in our electoral system is protected.
“Come next year, we will face new challenges and opportunities as we prepare for the upcoming local government elections. It is a task that requires our collective effort and dedication. I therefore encourage us all to keep the fire burning and momentum going. I am confident that together, we will navigate through the challenges and we will continue to set an example in conducting fair and transparent elections,” the ASoE stated.
Ms. Mataiciwa also expressed her gratitude to the staff for their hard work, dedication, and the sacrifices made to fulfil the mission of the FEO.
“I am proud to be part of a team that continues to uphold the values of democracy and work tirelessly to serve the people of Fiji. Let us continue to shine as a beacon of democracy, and may the light of our collective efforts continue to guide the way for a better Fiji,” Ms. Mataiciwa said.
The Diwali celebration program included a Dhoti competition for men and a Matka competition for women, a karaoke and a dance competition respectively. Prizes were also awarded for the best dressed male and female staff and the best decorated directorate.
