The Registrar of Political Parties (Registar), Ms Ana Mataiciwa, has today not approved the application for registration of the proposed Liberation of Fiji Party (LFP).
Following assessment of the application, the Registrar found that the proposed LFP failed to meet the minimum required members for the Central, Western, Northern and Eastern Divisions as reflected in the table below:
| Divisions | Legal Number Required | Number submitted by Party | Number of Members after Verification |
| Central | 2,000 | 2,116 | 1,599 |
| Western | 1,750 | 1,864 | 1,460 |
| Northern | 1,000 | 1,023 | 826 |
| Eastern | 250 | 254 | 188 |
| Total | 5,000 | 5,257 | 4,073 |
Accordingly, the application has not been approved, and the decision has been formally communicated to the representatives of the proposed Party, outlining the legal requirements that have not been met.
The Registrar further advises that registration of political parties is governed by established legal standards designed to ensure transparency, accountability and compliance with Fiji’s electoral framework. All applications are assessed consistently and in accordance with the law. The proposed Liberation of Fiji Party is at liberty to appeal the decision to the Electoral Commission within fourteen (14) days from the date of the decision.
The Fijian Elections Office remains committed to providing guidance to applicants to ensure that processes are understood and properly followed, while upholding the integrity of the political party registration framework.
