The Registrar of Political Parties Ms Ana Mataiciwa, today, Monday 20 July 2026, received a new application for registration from the Proposed Liberation of Fiji Party (LFP).
Ms. Mataiciwa confirms that the Proposed LFP is submitting a fresh application after its previous registration application was not approved on 03 July 2026, as it failed to meet the minimum required number of members for the Central, Western, Northern, and Eastern Divisions.
She said the Fijian Elections Office (FEO) is now preparing to publish the proposed party’s application in a newspaper and in the Gazette, as required under the Political Parties (Registration, Conduct, Funding and Disclosures) Act 2013 (Act). Once the publication is made, the objections period will officially open.
“During the objections period, any person may submit a written objection to the FEO regarding the party’s application for registration. The FEO will assess and respond to all objections within seven (7) days of receipt after allowing the proposed party to respond and afterwards inform both the objectors and the applicant party of its decision,” said Ms Mataiciwa.
Upon completion of this process, the proposed political party will be notified of whether its registration application has been approved or rejected. This decision will be made after a thorough compliance check with all requirements set out in the Act.
The FEO emphasises that openness and public involvement are vital when registering new political parties. This transparency guarantees that every proposed party follows the law while allowing citizens to actively participate in the process.
The Proposed Liberation of Fiji Party had earlier submitted its application on 03 June 2026.
