The Fijian Elections Office (FEO) has commenced a crucial three-day Fire Warden and First Aid Training program, underscoring its commitment to ensuring a safe and secure work environment for its staff.
While officiating at the training, the Supervisor of Elections (SoE) Ms Ana Mataiciwa, emphasized the importance of safety and emergency preparedness within the organization.
“As we move forward in our preparations for the upcoming elections, it is crucial that we equip our staff with the necessary skills to manage emergencies effectively. This training is not just a requirement but a proactive measure to safeguard our FEO family and the people we serve,” said Ms Mataiciwa.
She also highlighted that these initiatives reflect the FEO’s dedication to upholding safety standards and ensuring that its staff are prepared for any emergency.
“With divisional offices opening and election-related projects increasing, our readiness for emergency response will be vital. By investing in this training, we are reinforcing public confidence in the FEO’s ability to manage safe and secure elections,” the SoE added.
The Fire Warden Training, facilitated by the National Fire Authority, will provide staff with knowledge of fire safety procedures, emergency evacuation planning, and the proper use of small fire extinguishers. As the FEO expands its operations across Fiji in preparation for the elections, having well-trained personnel is essential to maintaining a secure working environment.
Additionally, the First Aid Training, conducted by the St John Association of Fiji, will equip the FEO staff with lifesaving skills, including CPR and basic first aid techniques. Given the increasing demands of election-related activities, having trained first responders within the FEO will further enhance workplace safety and reinforce the office’s commitment to staff and public welfare.
The FEO expresses its gratitude to the National Fire Authority and the St John Association of Fiji for their support and expertise in delivering this critical training. Staff members were encouraged to actively participate in the sessions and apply their knowledge to enhance overall workplace safety.
The Fire Warden and First Aid Training is part of the FEO’s broader commitment to professional development and operational excellence as it prepares for the upcoming elections.
