It is my pleasure to welcome you to the iTrain 101: Foundational Training of Trainers Training.
Over the next four days, you will embark on an important journey, one that will strengthen not only your individual capabilities, but also the Fijian Elections Office’s ability to develop confident, competent and effective teams. The quality of our trainers directly influences the quality of our people and, ultimately, the quality of our operations. As trainers, we do more than simply deliver information. We have the responsibility to transfer knowledge, develop skills, build confidence and empower our people to perform their roles to the highest possible standard.
The iTrain 101 training program has been designed to equip you with the fundamental principles and practical skills required to effectively plan, deliver, and evaluate training. More importantly, it is an opportunity for you to grow, not only as trainers, but as facilitators, communicators, mentors and leaders within the FEO.
As FEO trainers, you carry an important responsibility. The training you deliver must be accurate, consistent, relevant and practical. You must also demonstrate the professionalism, integrity and standards that we expect from every member of the FEO.
A good trainer creates an environment where people feel respected, included and confident enough to ask questions, share experiences, acknowledge what they do not know and, importantly, learn from their mistakes. We must recognise that people learn differently, and an effective trainer understands how to adapt, engage and bring out the best in every participant.
To all participants, I encourage you to approach these four days with an open mind and a willingness to learn. Participate fully in the discussions, activities, practical sessions and assessments. Ask questions, challenge yourselves, share your experiences and learn from one another.
I am confident that by the end of these four days, you will leave better equipped, more confident and ready to take on the important responsibility of developing the people who will help deliver the work of the FEO.
