The Divisional Managers;
Operation and Corporate Coordinators;
Members of the Fijian Elections Office family;
And all participants,
Ara Na Yadra and a Victorious Morning,
In life, we are either in a storm, about to enter one, or coming out of one. These storms can be uncertain, demanding, and test our resolve. But it is in these very moments that we are called to stand firm, to rise, and to move forward with purpose. Today marks not the beginning of a storm, but our preparation to navigate through any storm, together, and to emerge stronger on the other side, victoriously.
I am delighted to be here with each one of you gathered today for this important training. I also extend my sincere appreciation to our Operations Team, Divisional Managers, and all staff who have worked tirelessly to organise and make these trainings possible.
You have been selected as prospective Administrative Assistants, and you will play a frontline role in one of the most critical components of our electoral process, voter registration and awareness. This training will be conducted across all four divisions: Central, Western, Northern, and Eastern.
I am pleased to note that this opening also marks the commencement of training across all four divisions. I look forward to visiting the other divisions and receiving positive reports on the important work you will all undertake.
This is not just a training; it is the beginning of a national effort. The work you will undertake directly supports the upcoming elections.
Voter registration and awareness are the foundation of any credible election. An accurate and inclusive National Register of Voters, combined with an informed public, ensures fairness, transparency, and most importantly, public trust. As you go out into the field, you will face challenges, whether in remote locations or maritime communities, your role is vital in ensuring that no eligible Fijian is left behind, and that every Fijian understands their role in the electoral process.
As Administrative Assistants, you are not just staff, you are ambassadors of the Fijian Elections Office. Please represent us well. The responsibility rests with you to ensure that every registration is conducted with accuracy, integrity, and confidence, while also delivering clear and accessible information to the public, in line with the standards of the FEO.
I encourage you to pay close attention throughout this training. Uphold the highest standards of professionalism, neutrality, accuracy, and service to the public. Be adaptable, be culturally aware, and engage respectfully with every community you serve.
Your participation today is more than just attending a training, it is a contribution to democracy and national development. While the work ahead may be demanding, it is deeply meaningful. The success of this nationwide registration and awareness drive will depend on how well prepared you are.
And in moments when the work feels difficult, I encourage you to remember the words of Habakkuk 3:19: “The Sovereign Lord is my strength; He makes my feet like the feet of a deer, He enables me to tread on the heights.” Let this be a reminder to never give up, no matter the circumstances, and to keep moving forward with strength and purpose.
Your commitment, your teamwork, and your dedication will ensure that we continue to deliver credible, transparent, and well-managed elections for the people of Fiji.
Thank you once again for stepping forward to serve our people.
May you be guided in your work, strengthened in your resolve, and protected in your service to our nation.
With that, I officially declare the Nationwide Voter Registration and Awareness Training open.
