First and foremost, I would like to thank our Senior Management Team for supporting this initiative by allowing your staff to attend this four-day training programme.
To all participants, thank you for being here and for committing your time to your own professional development. I also extend my sincere appreciation to our Learning and Development Unit for organizing the iTrain 101 – Foundation of Training of Trainers Course.
Ladies and gentlemen.
Every successful organisation invests in its people because people are its greatest strength. At the Fijian Elections Office, our greatest asset is you, our staff, and building your capability is one of our highest priorities.
Learning is not simply about gaining knowledge. It is about improving how we work, collaborate, and ultimately, how we serve the people of Fiji. This course is an important milestone in developing a pool of competent, confident, and accredited trainers within our organisation.
As we continue to prepare for future electoral events, the demand for high-quality training will only increase. Every project area has a responsibility to ensure that our staff and election officials receive training that is accurate, consistent, and delivered to the highest standard.
A trainer is more than someone who stands in front of a room delivering presentations. Great trainers inspire confidence, simplify complex information, encourage participation, create an environment where people feel comfortable learning, and ensure that learning is meaningful and lasting. Each of you has been selected from your respective departments because we recognise your potential to become leaders in learning within the organisation.
Over the next four days, I encourage you to participate actively, share your experiences, ask questions, learn from one another, remain open to constructive feedback, and challenge yourselves to grow both personally and professionally.
Most importantly, take what you learn here and apply it within your own project areas. Whether you are delivering a briefing, facilitating a workshop, or training election officials in the lead-up to the General Election, the skills you develop this week should be evident in every session you conduct.
I thank the hardworking facilitators for preparing and delivering the course, and I congratulate all the participants who have been selected.
I wish everyone a productive and enjoyable learning experience.
Remember, great elections begin with well-trained people, and well-trained people begin with great trainers. The investment we make in developing trainers today will strengthen the integrity and professionalism of every election we deliver tomorrow.
