The Fijian Elections Office (FEO) has commenced its Divisional Awareness and Voter Registration Training in preparation for YES Outreach Phase II – Nationwide Awareness and Voter Registration Drive.
Opening the training, Supervisor of Elections Ms Ana Mataiciwa said that teams across the country would undergo the same training, receive consistent information and be equipped to deliver the same standard of service to voters nationwide.
“Wherever you are serving, the expectation is the same: every voter must receive accurate, impartial and consistent information from the Fijian Elections Office,” Ms Mataiciwa said.
“We have been preparing our systems, our people and our materials so that when Fiji goes to the polls, the FEO is ready to deliver. But being operationally ready is only one part of election readiness. Our voters must be ready too.”
Ms Mataiciwa emphasised that ensuring voters understand their role in the electoral process is central to the nationwide awareness and voter registration drive.
“Your responsibility is not to tell anyone who to vote for. Your responsibility is to make sure they understand how they can participate. That distinction is fundamental. As officials of the FEO, you must remain politically impartial at all times.”
Participants were also reminded of the importance of professionalism while engaging with communities. They were encouraged to wear their identification with pride, know their material, follow established procedures, remain impartial and approachable, and provide every voter with the highest standard of service.
The Divisional Awareness and Voter Registration Training will run from 21 September to 02 October 2026 across Fiji’s four divisions, with 240 participants expected to undergo training.
