The Fijian Elections Office (FEO) today officially commenced its Training of Trainers (ToT) program for Voter Registration at the Central/Eastern Divisional Office in Suva as part of the preparations for the upcoming Nationwide Voter Awareness & Registration Exercise.
Over the next three days, Divisional Managers, Operations Coordinators, and Operations Officers will be responsible for sharing the knowledge and skills acquired during this training with their registration teams in the Central, Western, Northern, and Eastern Divisions.
With the Nationwide Voter Awareness & Registration Exercise scheduled for next month, the training aims to ensure registration teams possess the necessary competencies to conduct Voter Registration activities both professionally and accurately.
In her opening remarks, the Supervisor of Elections (SoE), Ms Ana Mataiciwa, highlighted the crucial role of the participants as trainers and leaders within their respective divisions.
“Voter registration is the foundation of a credible electoral process. An accurate and inclusive Voter Register ensures that every eligible Fijian can participate in our elections,” said Ms Mataiciwa.
During the training, participants will review the procedures, systems, and standards that will govern Voter Registration activities. This will ensure that the knowledge gained is communicated clearly, accurately, and consistently to their teams.
The FEO will prioritise professionalism, neutrality, accuracy, and service to the public throughout the registration exercise to uphold its standards across all registration teams deployed nationwide.
The ToT program is a key component of the FEO’s preparations for the upcoming General Election, enhancing the readiness and capability of registration teams before they engage with eligible voters in the various communities.
“The General Election will demand the very best from all of us. This training is about strengthening that readiness and ensuring that the same confidence, competence and high standards are carried through to every registration team across the country,” said the SoE.
The FEO remains committed to ensuring that eligible Fijians can access Voter Registration Services and that the Voter Registration process is executed to the highest standards across Fiji.
