The Fijian Elections Office (FEO) successfully completed its Server Infrastructure Upgrade Project, marking a significant milestone in enhancing its Information Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure to support efficient and secure election management services.
In delivering her address, the Supervisor of Elections, Ms Ana Mataiciwa, highlighted the importance of the upgrade.
“The successful completion of this project demonstrates our commitment to leveraging advanced technology to improve our operational efficiency. The upgraded infrastructure will enable the FEO to provide a more reliable and secure electoral service to the people of Fiji,” said Ms Mataiciwa.
The Server Infrastructure Upgrade Project addressed key challenges faced by the FEO, including limited storage, memory capacity, and hardware nearing end-of-life within the VMware Clusters. These constraints previously affected the organization’s ability to onboard new virtual machines and expand workloads. With the implementation of a robust Nutanix Cluster, upgraded VMware components, and optimized Veeam data protection, the new system now supports enhanced disaster recovery, data integrity, and system performance.
The key benefits of the completed project include:
- Financial Gains – Increased Service Level Agreements and improved system performance.
- Business Continuity – Strengthened disaster recovery and data resilience.
- Operational Efficiency – Enhanced compliance, audit capabilities, and optimized workload management.
The project, which was delivered in collaboration with VirtualFlex, was undertaken to modernize the FEO’s Data Center, and the migration of all physical and virtual servers to a Hyper Converged Infrastructure(HCI) environment.
The project will ensure improved storage capacity, increased system resilience, and enhanced business continuity for the FEO and all aspects of the upgrade to meet the highest standards of compliance, security, and operational efficiency.
With this state-of-the-art infrastructure, the FEO is now better positioned to support electoral processes and ensure seamless, secure, and efficient election operations.
