The Fijian Elections Office [FEO] today received a Bilateral visit from the World Bank Fiji – Statistical Innovation and Capacity Building in the Pacific Islands Technical Mission. The Mission which included officials from the Pacific Community was lead by World Bank Senior Economist William Seitz.During the discussions, the processes and issues surrounding the collection and sharing of data was discussed at large.The following staff from the FEO participated in the discussion:1. The Acting Supervisor of Elections [ASoE] Ms. Ana Mataiciwa today opened a four (4) day collaborative workshop for the training of the Fijan Elections Office [FEO] Fire Wardens and OHS staff. The training is conducted in collaboration between the FEO Training and Development Unit, the National Fire Authority and the Ministry of Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations.20 staff of the FEO have been selected to undergo the Fire Warden and OHS Module 1 and 2 training. The Acting Supervisor of Elections [ASoE] Ms. Ana Mataiciwa was delighted to receive today Monday 25 March 2024 a courtesy call from representatives of International Institute of Democracy and Electoral Assistance [International IDEA].The meeting allowed for the FEO and International IDEA to update each other on collaborative efforts with regards to the upcoming Local Government Elections.The ASoE was also delighted to present a hard copy of the FEO 2024-2027 Strategic Plan to Election Startegic Planning guru Mr. Antonio Spinelli who was visiting from Australia with Mr. Adhy Aman. FEO Press Release“My office received the complaint, the complaints process was followed, and after assessment, powers under Section 18 of the Act was invoked, requesting FICAC to investigate a ‘probable’ breach. This must not be misconstrued as finding the Hon. Prasad guilty of any offence," stated Ms. Mataiciwa. Ms. Mataiciwa further stated that the referral of the complaint to the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption [‘FICAC’] was not only within her statutory rights as the ASoE to act on the complaint but equally under her statutory duty to refer the matter. The Acting Supervisor of Elections [ASoE] Ms. Ana Mataiciwa attended the FMF Legacy Leadership Symposium 2024 held at the Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa last week. The ASoE was happy to attend the Symposium interacting and building on her network of like minded leaders. Ms. Mataiciwa also mentioned how encouraging the Symposium was in addressing the need for leaders to not conform but transform."I’m blessed to have attended the Symposium, I had the opportunity to mingle and network with like minded leaders from all sections of society, it was encouraging for me, as it confirms to me, we are on the right path, given the fact that as an organization under new leadership, we are aligning ourselves to transform and not conform," said Ms. Mataiciwa.The ASoE is hopeful the FEO will be able to hold similar Symposium and trainings for aspiring leaders within its cadre.#FMFLLS2024 See MoreSee Less
