The fifth album is called SPOTTING and holds two  categories . Each album is divided in a number of sub-chapters (“categories”) in which we go in more detail. Republic built 2,112 F-84Fs while General Motors fabricated 599 more. This post deals with pictures of Thunderstreaks  in Belgian Air Force service, while they still were operational. This aircraft served with many NATO air foreced; we have a category for each one of them. The album BASE VISITS holds reports of visits that we made to various active air bases during normal operational flying days and NATO exercises. in total received 189 Hawker Hunters (F.4 and F.6 versions), equipping six squadrons at Leeuwarden , Twenthe ,Woensdrecht and Soesterberg. W&R portrayed in the USA are dealt with in a separate gallery (also in this album “Preserved Aircraft”). In the mid fifties the KLu (Koninklijke Luchtmacht) acquired 180 Republic F-84F Thunderstreaks, registered P-101 to P-277 and P-298 to P-300. We have seen the Thunderstreaks of the Belgian Air Force very frequently, both in operational conditions , in storage and/or as museum-pieces. The third album is dedicated to pictorial reviews of AIRSHOWS that we visited in the mid- and late Sixties as well as in more recent years. The majority of the Streaks depicted in this album are selected out of the range P-157 Many Thunderstreaks of the Belgian Air Force ended their service lives at the aircraft-depot at Koksijde AB. The 78 Italian aircraft started entering AMI service in 1956,  equipping the 3rd Aerobrigata (Wing), replacing RF-84G Thunderjets. Our main station at the time was Eindhoven, an airbase of the Royal Netherlands Air Force that hosted a number of Thunderstreak – and later of NF-5 squadrons.
